“Literary Walk”: Exploring Literature and History at Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens and Tea Ware Museum
On 30 April 2026, the Chinese Learning Support Team of our school organized a “Literary Walk” activity for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) students in Form 2 and Form 3. Students visited the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens and the Hong Kong Tea Ware Museum. The activity aimed to engage students in a lively and interesting way, allowing them to appreciate nature and culture while reading literary works by local writers, thereby cultivating their interest in Chinese language learning.
During the walk, students observed various animals in the Zoological and Botanical Gardens and admired ancient tea ware at the Tea Ware Museum. Through these experiences, they gained insights into Hong Kong’s community development and history. This activity was not only a literary journey but also an exploration of culture and history, enabling students to feel the close connection between literature and everyday life.
Students’ Reflections
2A Malaika Khanan : I felt really happy because I got to see so many fascinating animals. I also learned about the Hong Kong Tea Ware Museum, which was very impressive. I think everyone should visit it, as we can gain knowledge about history and culture while enjoying the exhibits.
2C Sadia: I discovered many animals that I had never seen before, which was truly intriguing. It was amazing to realize how creative people were in the past. I especially enjoyed looking at the beautiful tea ware, which showed both artistry and tradition.
3A Amin Hooria: During our “Literary Walk”, I was deeply intrigued by the discovery of many endangered species. It was a little sad to see their situation, and I hope we can all do our best to protect them. I also learned about their origins, which was very educational. Although the day was quite exhausting and the place was busy, the experience was absolutely worthwhile.
