School Profile

St Antonius Girls’ College is an aided school established by The Chinese Sisters of the Immaculate Conception. Started in 1969, the construction of the school was completed in November 1971. The 6-level school building was furnished with 24 standard classrooms, a library, a music room, an art room, science laboratories, a Home Economics room, a Geography room; together with a school office, a staff room, a school hall, and sport grounds. The total of the school construction fee was close to four million ($3,737,972.24), with 20% and 80% funded by The Chinese Sisters of the Immaculate Conception and the government respectively.

 

The recruitment of students was launched in St Antonius Primary School in November 1971 and St Antonius Girls’ College was officially opened in August, 1972. In the first year, there were altogether 450 students allocated in 9 classes in F.1 and F.2. The school was then expanded to 648 students (13 classes) in 1973, over 800 students (17 classes) in 1974 and 974 students (21 classes) in 1975. The capacity of the school was expanded to over a thousand after the addition of matriculation class.

 

To offer a better environment to students, more facilities were added to the school, including an extra classroom and staff room, a staff common room, a meeting room, a functional room and two student activity centers. The school refurbishment was completed on 3rd April, 2001.

 

The Chinese Sisters of the Immaculate Conception was dedicated to the school development. However, due to the shortage of manpower, the management rights of the school was returned to Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong in September 2017.
