St. Antonius Girls’ College 45th Anniversary Mass
We welcomed Bishop Emeritus of Hong Kong, Cardinal John Tong and his clergy to St. Antonius Girls’ College on Wednesday 18 October, 2017 to concelebrate our 45th Anniversary Mass. Cardinal John Tong was the chief celebrant. It was a beautiful occasion which brought the whole school together to give thanks for the gifts of the past 45 years. Our students, parents, teachers, principals from Catholic Diocesan schools and our honorable guests together shared the joy of this momentous anniversary.
The Mass then began with the blessing of Cardinal John Tong, followed by his speech on the three virtues of St. Antonius -- selflessness, read the bible and pray wholeheartedly. He also reminded us of the five core values of Catholic education. As a Catholic school, we uphold and pass on the core values of truth, justice, love, life and family to our students.
Our principal, Dr. Li, delivered a speech to express our gratitude to all serving and retired school board directors, current and past teachers and every staff member for their tremendous contribution and endeavor to our school in the past 45 years. She reflected upon our bright history and the vision of Sr. Virginia Ng Chun Yee, the founding principal of St. Antonius Girls’ College, for her excellent establishment and selfless dedication. The mass ended after the final blessing and all students sang the hymn songs together.
Our school supervisor, Ms Wong presented souvenirs to our honorable guests, Cardinal John Tong, Rev. Philip Chan, Rev. Joseph Fan, Rev. , Rev. Edward Khong, Rev. Francis Hung , Rev. Pierre Devos , Rev. Deacon Andrew Au and Rev. Deacon Peter Leung. Their support and guidance are our blessings.
We also expressed our deep and sincere gratitude to Sr. Ng, who has wholeheartedly fostered an atmosphere of understanding truth, love, hope and respect at our school. We were moved beyond words to present her with bouquets of beautiful flowers to express our thankfulness. All of us were excited having Sr. Ng and our honourable guests to conduct cake cutting ceremony which marked our 45th anniversary!
The mass was truly exceptional and our thanks are extended to all those who contributed their time and support to us. All SAGC members will continue striving hard in the pursuit of excellence!
